Project ông continued

The motivation behind my work is all personal. I tend to base a lot of my work on personal experiences. Late last year my grandfather died. The whole family gathered in Vietnam for his send off. We all knew he was dying so we all went to spend some time with him before he passed away. I took this time to document him and his life whilst he was alive and then on after his death.

After returning to london I used all these photographs I had taken and re-shot them as beautiful fashioned versions of his death. I found this process very purifying and calming. Before this I had been shooting a project based on my fathers journey to the U.K. in the 70s. This has continued on into the project of the death of my grandpa. Being half Vietnamese, half English I feel has a huge influence on the outcome of my work. I shoot most if not all my work on Polaroid. I also use 35mm cameras.

At the end of this project I would love to have a show reflecting and telling the story of his life. Celebrating not mourning his life.

After graduating from Leeds College of Art Sarah retuned to London, her home town and started working as a photographer's assistant whilst still creating work of her own.
