Gigs

Promoters come and go but thankfully there is usually someone around mad enough to keep putting on gigs in small music venues like those in my city. Unlike arenas or summer festivals the grunge factor off the main circuit is high which is one of the things that attracts me as a photographer. There are layers of unpredictability to what you will see on a night in the back room of a bar or and, if you are lucky, a mosh-pit might erupt at any moment - that is if anyone's bothered to show up in the first place.

I'm in my early fifties and admit it is probably a bit weird to be actually going year after year to hear amateur bands play let alone wandering around with a camera photographing stuff. The only time I see anyone my age it's usually a parent turning up around half past eleven to fetch a band's kit home.

Pete trained in photography at Nottingham Trent University.
